ABOUT

Welcome to Double Yellow Photos more formally known as Double Yellow Photography! I'm Heather, the chief photographer, webmaster, blogger, and the person who answers your questions and comments.
I started Double Yellow Photos as a way to share my photography as my fiancé and I travel around the United States. We took a year (maybe more... we'll see) off of work, sold our houses, and all the stuff filling the closets we didn't need and bought an RV. We set out from California in April 2016 to explore America's highways and byways. I've enjoyed not having an alarm clock and the freedom to decide if we're enjoying a stop to add an extra day or week.
I describe my photography as more than a hobby... its really been a lifelong passion. My grandmother gave me my first camera, a Kodak 110 (I'm showing my age) as a child before we took a trip to Yellowstone National Park. I was 10! My how the time flies and technology changes. I have adopted the digital era and loved taking classes in California and New York City to enhance my skills.
I enjoy landscape, architecture, and street photography. Before we left California I also enjoyed taking lifestyle and family portraits. For any family and friends reading this, thanks for letting me be a part of your family trips to the park, birthdays and other special moments that I captured with my camera. Over the years I have been lucky enough to photograph everything from churches and cafes in Europe, to Machu Picchu in Peru, and now all the sites of big cities and small towns around the United States.
On this journey I look forward to exploring new types of photography and taking some creative license to bring you fun and beautiful images. Each picture I take tells a story and each picture is different. Some pictures tell their story with punches of color like Live Bait NYC, or something more moody like the San Remo as seen from Central Park. Each photo I create is different and I enjoy sharing the story.
We have had some awesome experiences so far that I'm excited to share with you. I hope our photos and stories from the road will entertain you and inspire you to explore too!
Thanks for following along on our adventure,
Heather
